Ample Space and Comfort
The VW Crafter, especially the Long Wheelbase (LWB) model, provides one of the largest interiors in its class. This means plenty of room for living, sleeping, and storing gear, making it more comfortable for extended trips or even full-time van life.
Typically, a fixed double bed is placed at the rear of the van, with seating configured for four travel seats with seatbelts, and swivel captain chairs in the front for a functional living area.
Features include:
- The LWB variant of the VW Crafter is about 6.8 meters (22.3 feet) long. It has a tall roof, giving ample standing room inside.
- The van typically has a high roof (H3 model), allowing enough headroom inside
- Access to the camper is through a large sliding door on the side, making entry and exit easy
- Rear double doors open wide for loading/access
Off-Grid Capabilities
Many conversions include solar panels, which allow for off-grid camping by charging the leisure battery, powering lights, appliances, and more without the need to rely on campsite power or the vehicle’s engine.
The Crafter has enough space for larger fresh water and waste tanks, which extend your ability to stay off-grid without needing to refill or empty frequently.
With high-quality insulation and optional diesel heaters, a Crafter campervan can be used year-round, even in colder climates, making it ideal for adventurers who want to camp in remote, off-grid locations regardless of weather.
